Ginkgo Garden Club Birthday Celebration

Our local garden club celebrated its 41st birthday with an outing. We went on a luncheon at The Bar (restaurant and grill) in Cape Girardeau, MO. The Bar was in the 2014 film Gone Girl, staring Ben Affleck. The Bar sits across the street from Cape County Courthouse which was also in the film.

The hostess for the month decorated the tables with potted plants and lanterns. There was a television mounted on the wall with a movie playing of beautiful landscapes. 

Instead of a birthday cake, we had decorated cupcakes in a flower motif. 

On the way home from the luncheon, we noticed the beautiful sky over the Mississippi River.

When we crossed the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge back into Illinois, 

I noticed the beautiful weeds in Illinois.

Later we headed back to Kentucky.

A Little Money Business - Quilting

I recently made this monkey quilt and want to share it with you.
                               

This  is Anita Goodesign pattern, 

there is applique 

and the small monkeys are stitched.

There are 33 designs in this program.

This quilt pattern I used is 

called a court house

 steps.

The fabric I used were Batiks. 

I also used many of these monkeys on baby shirts and towels.

It was a fun quilt.

Cooking with The Girls

Chicken and Dumplings and Cinnamon Rolls

One of my favorite things to do is to cook with my Granddaughter.
She has been cooking with me since she was able to scoot a chair around in the kitchen.

Our favorite food to prepare is chicken and dumplings. Here is my Grandmother's recipe that we use.

Another recipe that we use is from her mother. 

It is tasty cinnamon rolls.

We got carried away making the chicken and

 dumplings and cinnamon rolls.

We shared the cinnamon rolls with our friends and neighbors.
