Soulard's Farmers Market

Hope you have had a great 4th of July.

We started our weekend with friends at Adriana's on the Hill for tasty lunch. We followed that with a St. Louis Cardinal Baseball game. After the Cardinal victory, we were treated with a fireworks' display at Busch Stadium.

The following day
our friends took us to a part of St. Louis that we had never visited called Soulard.

Soulard is a historic French neighborhood in St. Louis, Missouri. It is named for Antoine Soulard, who first began to develop the land. Soulard was a surveyor for the Spanish government and a refugee from the French Revolution in 1790.

The Market was open in 1779 so the  farmers to come and sell their fruits, vegetables, and livestock.

The market is located on Carroll Street in St.          Louis, Missouri.

They sell meats, flowers, produce, cheese, fruits, and vegetables just to name a few.

I was taken back by a fruit that I had never seen. This fruit was as big as a watermelon. The sign in the picture tells what it is and gives a brief description of its flavor.

You could smell the fresh pineapple while passing by the stand.

These peaches were as tasty as they were beautiful.

The appeared to be no shortage of fresh fruit.

I brought home a basket of pears.

There were too many choices to make on such short notice.

We filled up our car with as much as we could carry.

These called for a BLT to start our next morning.

Now preparing linguine with asparagus and white lemon sauce on grilled chicken breast for dinner.

We took a short walk through the neighborhood.

We had a wonderful lunch at Molly's.

We were able to miss the rain that was headed our way.
