St. Patty's Day Tablescape and a Party

I've designed an informal St. Patrick's Day setting trying to get into the spirit of St. Patrick's Day.

I used my Fiestaware in a variety of colors: Kelley Green, Lemongrass, Turquoise, and White.

Fiesta baking dishes were used for baked potatoes.

The centerpiece consisted of greenery picks and St. Patrick's Day hats and clovers from Trees and Trends.

Angel food cake and strawberries made a dessert for a birthday celebration for my husband.

A green and white St. Patrick's Tartan was used as a base for the centerpiece.

Food for the birthday party included: grilled pork chops, buttered carrots, sweet and sour slaw, baked beans, and baked potatoes.

Another table setting for St. Patrick's Day included a new quilted table runner I made using scraps from quilting projects.

Kiss Me, I'm Irish!

This is Ernie, my cat and assistant quilter.

Wall Hangings for My Sewing Room

I've recently started blogging and have a few wall hangings to share that I made for my sewing room.

Each of the blocks for this Easter wall hanging were machine embroidered and quilted. The patterns are by Anita Good Design "Vintage Easter."

The next two were made using designs from my machine.

This hanging is some summer garden flowers from designs in the machine.

I'll give you a peek at a patriotic project I am working on now.

Thanks for stopping by - JoAnn.

Braid in A Day - Quilting

Although I may have been absent from blogging for a while, I haven't been absent from quilting. I consider myself a beginning quilter and began this rewarding hobby about a year ago. To break back into blogging, I wanted to share a few of my beginning quilts.

This was my first quilt of 2015 called "Braid in A Day". I made it for my granddaughter.

Then I made another quilt using the same pattern but a king size in blues for my sister-in-law.

While I was vacationing in Destin, FL last summer, I made the next Braid in A Day. I did enjoy the water and the beach, but I took my sewing machine along.

I'll do my best to keep blogging so that you know I am alive and enjoying life. Thanks for stopping by - JoAnn.

Touches of Fall

It has been the coolest summer I can remember. Now that it's about over we are having temperatures in the high 90's.
But  I know Fall is on its way!
I have been  working on  fall decorations this week. We are still unpacking from the move. Most of our  fall stuff is in the attic and  we are having a heat wave for the past two weeks here in Kentucky!
Here is a peek as I  walk thought the house!

Fall arrangement in the study.

Pumpkin in a bell jar on breakfast table.

Mr. Owl on the mantel in the keeping room.

Pier One owl and pumpkins in the  hall at end of kitchen

The  lantern   is  from Hobby Lobby and owl from Pier One. He is so sad looking.

I added two fall pillows from Pottery Barn!
Thanks Judy Bigg!

Added a runner with some pumpkins and candles to the dinning room table .
Still have more boxes to  unpack.

My  husband got  tired looking for my fall plates in the attic. Friday  he came home with a new set of fall
dishes from Pier One.
Lol,  he is  not off the hook !  I still want him to find the ones  in the attic! I told the movers to put all the boxes in the garage, he told them to take them all up!

Hope you come back and see me again. I got to get back up in the attic! Have a great week!

Welcome to my Keeping Room

This was the beginning of what was to be our kitchen and keeping room.
The walls were painted a Berkshire beige. The coffered ceiling trim was painted a bright white and the ceiling was painted a pewter.

The room is ready for the flooring, book shelves, mantel and shutters are ready to be installed.

I added a comfortable sectional that fit neatly into the corner of the keeping room. I also added a shag area rug to add texture and warmth.

This is our breakfast table that sits at the end of our kitchen.

Our cozy little corner is for watching television and reading.
I drew out the tile work and added silver decorative tiles to layer for interest.

This is looking in to the kitchen. The room is 16X40 including kitchen.
The custom shaker style cabinets contrast to the dark wood flooring and island.
I used a round table to balance the long rectangular room.

Both ends of the 17 foot  island have  good book storage.
The island cabinet is a dark chocolate maple stain with white quartz countertop.

This rug was my inspiration for the colors used in my kitchen/keeping room.
The flooring I chose was a dark maple wood.
Thanks for coming!

Peacocks In The New Dinining Room

Hope you have had a great week!
Before I show my new peacock, I wanted to show you my new dining room.

The painters were putting on  the
first coat of paint in December.
This is called a double tray  ceiling. It is fourteen feet high. The top of the ceiling is painted Charcoal. The rest of the ceiling and walls are painted Galveston Gray.

I saw this chandelier on Hozz and loved it. The lighting store just happened to have it in the show room. This is from the Crystorama Mercer Collection. I learned how to buy the proper size of lighting for a room during this construction. I had to have a large 30 " wide chandelier with eight candelabras because of the dining room size and height of the ceiling. It is band with hand cut crystals.

The floor is dark maple banded with light oak. I added a gray shag rug under the table.

I used my old chicory cherry dining room furniture
from the Thomasville's River Road Collections.
My new style is called Modern  Eclectic. I have been mixing old pieces that I love  with new finds.

This is my new focal point. I just love these peacocks.
My friend Judy (JBigg's Little Pieces) and
I found these while out shopping the other day.

Throughout the house, I have added
turquoise  as my accent color.

Hope you have enjoyed visiting my new dining room. Come back.
I trying to post each week.
