Cooking with The Girls

Chicken and Dumplings and Cinnamon Rolls

One of my favorite things to do is to cook with my Granddaughter.
She has been cooking with me since she was able to scoot a chair around in the kitchen.

Our favorite food to prepare is chicken and dumplings. Here is my Grandmother's recipe that we use.

Another recipe that we use is from her mother.

It is tasty cinnamon rolls.

We got carried away making the chicken and

dumplings and cinnamon rolls.

We shared the cinnamon rolls with our friends and neighbors.

Daffodil Luncheon

I enjoyed a beautiful Spring day. I am happy that I took a walk before the storms came. The flag was flying high and the daffodils and tulips were abundant.

I took pictures of the beautiful flowers and blooms. I had to take a picture of my husband's adversary the dandelion.

This barn is across the road is adorned with cherry blooms and the picture at the top shows my Kentucky Bluegrass in the side yard.

I was inspired to go home and prepare a lunch of chicken noodle soup and fruit.

I picked some daffodils for my table setting. Since I used my grandmother's recipe for the chicken soup, I brought out some vintage white place settings and added some milk glass.

For dessert we had fresh fruit. Thank you for stopping by. Hope you enjoy your week.

I thought this was so cute that I just had to add it. I witnessed a calf having lunch.

Easter Lunch for Seven

We hosted a small Easter lunch for seven.

I used the vintage Fiesta in pink and the light yellow is also vintage Fiesta. My sister-in-law found light blue, the rose (light pink) and the light yellow at a flea market while visiting in Houston, Texas and was so kind to buy them for me.

Our menu included: baked ham, asparagus and squash, slaw, broccoli salad, mashed potatoes and a jello salad and homemade rolls. For dessert I made an Italian Creme Easter cake and a mandarin orange cake. Walton ware pieces were used for self serving on the island.

Relaxing after clean-up. My husband cut the Italian cake for a second piece. Then took to the couch to relax. Ernie, our cat, wasn't happy because he was not invited to the luncheon and spent the day on the porch.
